The Virginia Marine Science Museum has hands on exhibits as well as tanks full of exotic ocean life. Another great attraction is the First Landing Cross, marking the landing of the Jamestown settlers. Water activities include kayaking, boating and fishing as well as swimming and playing in the waves. You can also stop by the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge to see beautiful, protected marshes. There is also an abundance of golf courses to keep even the pickiest golfer occupied and entertained.
Norfolk also is a destination of note, with restaurants, museums, and nightlife. It is the home of the Norfolk Naval Base, which means there is always activity in the area. Stroll by the marinas or visit the riverfront shops. Stop by the old City Hall, which has been turned into a museum or visit the Norfolk botanical gardens. Even if you're here for the base, be sure to check out the rest of the city as well.
